The annual 19th round of the UK-based International Institute for Strategic Studies the Shangri-La Dialogue (10–12 June 2022), took place in Singapore. After a two-year interruption due to COVID finally, some regularity returned to the island state and the annual dangerous dance of the Elephants has resumed, the Shangri-La dialogue. But was the conference the “American Munich” for Asia as asked by the former Australian prime minister Kevin Rudd?
This commentary will take a contrarian view on the various grandeur statements made by the peer competitors if the 2022 conference was the Munich of Asia.
